Baking the Perfect the Red Velvet Cupcake

This is an international favorite and who knows, yours could be the next best seller. Here is a step to step guide on baking the perfect red velvet cupcake!

Step 1: Preheat your oven and prepare your muffin pans. Make sure they are lined with cupcake liners and that your oven is ready at 175 degrees C.

Step 2: Use an electric mixer to beat ¼ cup of butter until it is smooth. Add 150 grams of white sugar and beat it once again until it becomes fluffy. Add 1 large egg and a tablespoon of vanilla extract and set aside.

Step 3: Mix 120 ml of buttermilk with 1 tablespoon of red food coloring. Take a big bowl and then mix alternately your dry and wet mixture.

Step 4: You will need ½ teaspoon white vinegar and ½ teaspoon baking soda. Mix that on the small bowl, let it fizz for 3 seconds and pour it quickly on your red cake mixture.

Step 5: It is now time to divide your batter into 12 cupcake cups. Bake it for about 23 minutes or until a toothpick from the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool on a pan and prepare your cream cheese frosting.

Step 6: You will need your electric mixer to make your red velvet cream cheese frosting. Take 8 ounces of cream cheese and beat it until it becomes smooth. Add half a teaspoon of vanilla extract and 60 grams of powdered sugar. Make sure the sugar is sifted. Add 160 ml of pure yogurt and whip until you get the consistency you want!
